Today Jim and I closed on our first house. It's nothing fancy but it's ours and we are incredibly excited. The house was built in 1939 and not much about the house has changed since then. The kitchen is the same, the bathroom is the same, "Quiet May" the massive oil furnace is the same, etc. Needless to say we have quite a bit of work ahead of us and we're ready for it!
We have exactly 70 days until we have to move out of our apartment and we are hoping to get a lot of work done before we have to move in. Tomorrow we are meeting with an architect and a few potential contractors - hopefully we'll be off and running in no time.
